A new project coming up.

Today I was asked to participate in creating a wildlife themed mural with artists from across Canada to raise awareness for the environment and to also assist CPAWS Canada.

Each artist paints a panel 16 x 16" and the panels create a mosaic of a much larger picture. You can view the Earth’s Treasure Chest mosaic on-line. It has to be finished by June 30th so I'll have to get busy. Each panel will be sold after the whole of the mosaic is finished and displayed.

Tomorrow I start painting again, YEAH! I'm in withdrawl!

Wildlife Artists NetLink

Another little goal reached in my painting career. I've been accepted into the Wildlife Artists NetLink for artists that specialize in wildlife.

Take some time to check it out. I won't be painting until Apr.30th. Thank goodness this busy week is almost over. I'll post updates on May 1st. Till then, have a great weekend.

Feel free to browse the older postings on the left. Thanks.

Gunner

I finished the dog Gunner and now have to move onto the background. I'll have to set up some hunting gear outside to take photos. I'm not sure what will be in the foreground yet.
I'm still painting on the other works and will post when they look a little more finished.

Easter update.

I know, they look ugly! But all paintings go through an ugly stage and this is it.

This is basic blocking in of colours to see what works and what doesn't. Although, I have started on the details on the right hand side of the berry farm. No rhyme or reason there, I just liked the red garage.

I'll put the name of the farm on the sign leaning on the ground. It no longer operates as a commercial enterprise. The owner will be 97 in May! :) My husband's aunt.

So, I'll just keep working on all the paintings to get them out of the ugly stages. I'll post when something looks better.

Easter update.

I know, they look ugly! But all paintings go through an ugly stage and this is it.
This is blocking in the colours to see what will work and what has to change. Although, I have started to put in some details on the Berry Farm, working from right to left. No rhyme or reason there, I just liked the red garage. I'll put the farm's name on the wooden sign to the right as it no longer operates as a commercial enterprise. The owner will like to see the sign in the painting. She is 97 years old this May! :) My husband's aunt.

So, what is next? Just pushing through the ugly stages of all the paintings I have on the go. I'll post some when they look a little better.

Good Friday updates.

I just wanted to post the updates on a few paintings before I go farther this Easter weekend. One at a time.

"Portrait of A Fisherman": draw out on canvas, 16 x 20.
"Gunner": I worked a little on him but will do more today.
"Dixie in the Field": Getting close.
"Hornby Berry Farm": This will be a birthday present for a family member, drawn out on canvas, 16 x 20.
and finally
"Swan": a kind of Abstract painting looking down on a swan with reflections and shadows in the water.

Dog Crazy!

I decided to go Dog Crazy this week! I'm going to see how much I can get done by Friday and then I have to draw out some more. As my stockpile of paintings ahead gets lower, I start to panic! I need to feel that I can choose from at least 5 to paint on at any given time. I must be nuts. LOL
The next lot is waterfowl and a fisherman.
I'm happy that the snow is finally melting. I need to get outside and do some of these paintings from life.
Till tomorrow.

A finished painting! "Bear In Camp"

YEAH! Finally I am finished, "Bear In Camp", 9" x 12", acrylic on masonite prepared board.
I may do a touch up hear or there tomorrow in the sunlight, but I beleive I am done. It had me stumped, excuse the pun, for a couple of days but I worked through it today.

The next painting to tackle is "Dixie In The Field", hunting dog which is about 1/4 done.

That's it for today. I'm attending an Exhibition tomorrow where my fish painting, "Hooked" will be displayed with the local art club.

Stump done.

The stump is finally painted and I am feeling a little better this evening. I can think again!
I'll do the foliage tomorrow and then there isn't much left. Just fixing small details on the boots and bear's face.

Little details.

I felt unwell the last two days (Blah!) so I did a little here and there when I could. I put some details on Dixie's (the dog) face and collar.

I also started a self-portrait for an on-line painting class. I have no time limit on this so it won't interfere with my other paintings.

The bear painting had me stumped so it was time to work on some others for a day or two. I've been concentrating too much on it lately and I can't see anymore. (Just like staring at a computer screen for too long, LOL.)

Hope to have another update tonight.
