Let me....

This Sat morning seems like a good day to work on "I Can Do It", a little fisherman trying to put the worm on his own hook.

Step 5:

You won't believe what I have to do with the skin. You'll think I'm crazy for going so dark but all the skin, except for highlights, are in full shadow.

Step 6:

Of course, the final skin tone won't look so garish, but I have to block in the basic dark colours.

More darkening of the arm and leg, starting to add the feet and then start the left side. No, the arm won't look this dark when the painting is finished. :)

And because I have to finish this one soon, I filled in the dog with paint so that I can start adding all the shading. I can't just have white canvas showing through. Of course, the camera is giving me a hard time with the dark painting.

Couch potato.

I've been continuing on the painting of the couch and just starting to add shading to the dog.

Step 5:

More on this later....

I did more work on this and used my scanner to get a better picture. Unfortunately, I had to scan the two sides and it shows a line where they connect.

Legs, legs, legs.

Painting legs today. I've been too busy with other art related things to actually paint! I'm taking the time to work on "It's Too Cold" today.

Bear Necessity.

EEEK, I have to have this one done by tomorrow morning. @$&*!!

I'll be working on it today. I did some of it last night.

Step 3: Bear drinking. (WHAT am I going to call it???)

Step 4 done this evening:

Bear Update: I didn't get the bear finished tonight so I finished another one to display at the Timmins Public Library. "First Light" was done for our Art Club's monthly challenge.

Face painting.

Last night I did some work in the basement framing and started the faces on the, "It's Too Cold.." painting.

It certainly isn't a finished face, just checking how dark or light to make the areas and the left eye needs to be wider. You can't see it in the photo, but I have added texture to the cement where the girls are sitting. Their feet are sitting on an asphalt boat ramp and I have to decide how I want this area to look.

This afternoon was mini paintings, I'll be glad when I get my new glasses that are on order. I CAN"T SEE! The details may have to wait for the glasses.

So, step 1 Great Grey mini: this one is really tiny, 1 x 1.5 inches. I had to grid out the face so I wouldn't have to concentrate on placement.

Step 2: Snowy mini, 3 x 4"

I'll work on the slightly larger paintings for the library.

Still busy with art.

My brain is mush, I don't even know what day it is.

This week has been filled with art related tasks, most of which have nothing to do with painting. :(

Meetings, websites, framing, stretching, priming, letters, e-mails. You name it, I did it this week. Thank goodness the weekend is here and I can concentrate on painting. You thought I could rest on the weekend? :)

Yesterday I squeezed in the beginning of the Heron painting. My last one of this batch.

Step 1:

I also worked quickly on the drinking bear painting.

Step 2:

This afternoon I worked on, "I Can Do It":

Can't find a work in progress you are watching.

My website has a section to follow them all. :) http://www.paintingthenorth.com/work_in_progress.htm

It's Too Cold!! Brrr.

Actually, the temperature has been slightly cold...-35 deg. this morning and -38 deg. yesterday, BUT it is my painting from this morning that is titled, "It's Too Cold". Two young girls dipping their toes in an icy northern Ontario lake.

The girls reminded me of my own childhood with my sister. :)

Step 1:

Here I am, this evening, finally home and ready to paint. And I can't find my miniatures to paint!! AAAAARRRRGGH! Where....did I put them?? :( In the meantime, I'm adding a section to my website for all those people following just one or two of my paintings. In the section "Work In Progress" you will be able to view each painting progress separately. You won't have to go looking in past blog entries.

I'll still keep up this daily painting diary.

Two New Ones

Well....2 new paintings on the go, and 3 more by tomorrow night. That will make a GRAND TOTAL of 12, yes twelve paintings, in progress. I don't know if I am crazy or just love a challenge. :)

Most are for the Ducks Unlimited competition and a few others. Check back tomorrow.

I Can Do It

I HAVE A NEW WEBSITE!! Please take the time to visit.

http://www.paintingthenorth.com

I'm still blocking in the painting, "I Can Do It". I'm basically just covering the primer and seeing if the design needs changing. I'm not concerned about exact colours. They will all be covered with more paint. :)
