The deadline for the annual NOAA juried competition is Monday, so I have to finish the Polar Bear painting by Sunday evening.

A Hot August Day

Finally summer seems to have landed in Timmins. It's been hot for 4 days now and I am thoroughly enjoying it. Only one thunderstorm last night and then sun again this morning.

I went to the Porcupine Art Club for their OPEN STUDIO and took my kayak paintings to work on.

I'm almost finished "Peaceful Paddling". Step 4:

And I have more work to do on this one.

I have to work on the Polar Bear again tonight, so keep watching.

Who's Watching Who

This polar bear is swimming in a pool and my sister is taking it's picture. I will name it, "Who's Watching Who" because the bear is looking right at her. 22 x 30" acrylic on canvas.

Step 2: Working on the water and polar bear outline behind the pool glass.

Step 1: Shows the basic outline and blocked in areas of colour. The polar bear is under water in the right side of the painting, behind glass. My sister's head, hand and camera will be in the left bottom corner. The reference photo was taken at the Polar Bear Habitat in Cochrane, Ontario, in April.
